Japan Mart, New Zealand’s largest Japanese grocery store, is currently hiring staff!

Position Title:

Full-time Assistant Store Manager Trainee

Responsibilities:

  • Staff training and supervision, shift scheduling, and task allocation
  • Managing sales and analyzing data
  • Customer service, Handling customer complaints
  • Managing stock, Purchasing products, Price setting, Stocking Shelves
  • Strict hygiene and safety management
  • Organizing event promotional planning
  • Coordination with headquarters, monitoring market trends, and proposing improvements
  • Handling security

Place of Work:

Japan Mart Silvia Park/ Shop 79 Sylvia Park Shopping Centre, 286 Mount Wellington Highway, Mt Wellington, Auckland 1060

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week

Work schedule follows a 5-day rotating weekly shift, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Suitable candidates are:

  • Holding right to work in New Zealand (A visa with more than 2 years of validity is preferred.)
  • Be able to work flexible shifts including weekends, holiday seasons, and late nights
  • Having experience working at Retail inventory (more than 1 year) or being interested in working at Retail shop
  • Leadership skills and experience in food sales
  • Having basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sake is preferred.
  • Must be fluent Japanese
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Basic computer skills are required. Experience in using ERP (e.g., NetSuite) in sales and logistics operations is a big advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail
  • Honest, communicative and loyal person
